We have been working together for several years now with the undergrad fellowship at Temple University during the school year and then working to run Gateway in the summers. The summer of 2020 will be our first year running Gateway as a married couple and as official co-directors. We look forward to hosting you all in our neighborhood. |

More About Ryan
After graduating from University of Delaware (UD) in 2006, I spent the next year with Mission Year (www.missionyear.org) learning to live intentionally in West Philadelphia. This was a transformative year for me as God broke my heart for the city and the marginalized communities of people who God deeply loves.
My experience with InterVarsity in undergrad prepared me well for a lifetime of following Jesus. However, living in this new environment (I grew up in the Poconos, PA) stretched me in ways where I was able to learn a lot about myself, others, and God.
After this year God drew me back to working with college students through InterVarsity at UD. It was as if God was sending me to campus with renewed vision to help students learn some of the things I did during my year with Mission Year in Philadelphia.
This was when I became an advocate for the city and for intentionally loving others as Jesus does. After three years with IVCF at UD it became possible for me to transfer with InterVarsity up to Temple University in North Philadelphia. This felt like a beautiful mixture of my love for the city and campus in one place.
At Temple University it became clear that God has been preparing me to direct Gateway Philadelphia as well as direct the Intentional Christian Community house for students called the Diamond Street House. This is the same house that will house us during Gateway.
Since coming on staff with IVCF, I have staffed 2 summers and directed for 3, 2009-2011 & 2014-15. Gateway was paused for a time of re-visioning and restructuring during the summers of 2012 & 2013 & again for my sabbatical summer of 2016. It’s been running again since the summer of 2017.
Each year God brings together students from different schools and from different backgrounds to form the perfect team. It is my prayer that God continues to break each and every one of our hearts for the things that break His.
