Cost
We’ve estimated that approximately $1500 per participant covers all our necessary costs during the program. This includes housing, food, transportation, outings, books and materials. Known as a summer immersion experience, Gateway Philadelphia, is mostly financed through relationships with people who care and are able to financially contribute but sometimes participants are able to find grants and scholarships through schools or churches to contribute to their financial needs. All participants will be expected to contribute the same amount of effort as each other in asking friends, family, churches, and schools to contribute toward the cost of their coming. All necessary fund raising training and coaching will be provided by InterVarsity Staff, but all participants will work together as a collaborative effort and team to reach the total team goal. This means that we will be tracking effort and not necessarily the dollar amount raised. The goal of $1500 per participant is an approximated number, because we recognized that some people have networks that can generate more financial donations with less effort than others. So this means that some people will actually raise more than 1500 while others might raise less than 1500, but everyone will be putting in the same amount of work or effort. So as long as every participant is able to commit to putting in the same amount of effort as the rest of the team, we welcome them for the summer.

Meals
The Gateway team will take turns shopping and cooking meals for one another while taking into account the dietary needs of all team members. Bringing a few of your favorite recipes to share with the team is highly encouraged. Those who are less experienced with cooking will be paired with those are more experienced.
